Fresh from releasing his latest album, Reeve spoke enthusiastically about filming the video for his single Too Late?, revealing that the project had been in his mind almost from the moment he finished writing the song.

“I went back to the hotel afterwards and thought, ‘This really needs a music video,’” he explained. “I was already imagining the story while listening to the song and making notes.”

Although the production faced early setbacks when the team struggled to find the perfect filming location in Virginia, everything came together after discovering exactly what they needed in Los Angeles.

“It was my first time in LA,” Reeve said. “We found the perfect location we’d been searching for, and we ended up filming across five or six different locations.”

One standout setting was a recreated Blockbuster video store, fitting perfectly with the nostalgic feel that has become one of Reeve’s trademarks.

Without revealing too many spoilers, Reeve described the video as a continuation of the tongue-in-cheek storytelling style fans first saw in Over Me.

“The music videos are going to be self-aware, humorous and a little cheeky,” he said. “Everything in this video is intentional, from the lighting to the sets.”

He also teased a dance sequence during the closing moments, revealing that fans will get to see even more of the finale through additional clips released on social media.

With the album now settling into listeners’ playlists, Reeve admitted it has been fascinating watching which tracks fans have embraced.

While songs such as One Night Stand continue to attract attention, he was particularly pleased by the growing affection for True Love Talking.

“I started humming it while walking around the house,” he recalled. “If something gets stuck in my head, I know I need to write it down.”

The conversation naturally turned to the unmistakable 1980s influences running throughout his music. Ginger praised Reeve for introducing a younger audience to artists who defined the decade while putting his own modern spin on the sound.

Reeve welcomed the compliment, explaining that he deliberately weaves references to his musical heroes into his recordings.

For the song Never Know Love, he revealed he set out to blend the sounds of Corey Hart, Rick Springfield and Steve Perry, even purchasing a keyboard similar to the one used on Hart’s classic Sunglasses at Night to recreate its distinctive tone.

“The coolest part is seeing people discover those 80s songs because of mine,” he said.

Looking ahead, Reeve confirmed an East Coast and Midwest tour is planned for September, including a long-awaited stop in Chicago, much to Diana’s delight.

He also revealed an even bigger ambition for next year: joining a major tour alongside either legendary 1980s artists or modern acts carrying the same retro spirit.

“My goal is to jump on a tour with someone like Rick Springfield or Tiffany, or a newer band bringing that 80s style,” he said.

The future looks equally busy in the studio. Reeve confirmed at least one, and possibly two, holiday singles are on the way, along with another music video that has quietly been filmed over the past six months after one of his songs surpassed one million Spotify streams.

Beyond that, work is already well underway on his second and even third albums.

Album two, expected next spring or summer, promises to fully embrace colourful coastal nostalgia.

“It’s going to be an 80s beach-inspired album,” Reeve revealed. “Think yacht rock, Huey Lewis and Duran Duran. It’s going to be bright colours, love and life. It’s going to be great.”

Before signing off, the conversation turned to his personal life. Reeve shared that he and his fiancée are currently planning a move from Nashville to the coast before turning their attention to wedding preparations.

“We’re trying to keep it small, mostly family and a few close friends,” he said. “We’re just really grateful to have found each other and we’re excited to get married.”

With new music, more videos, touring ambitions and a wedding all on the horizon, Reeve’s next chapter looks set to be every bit as vibrant and nostalgic as the music that has won him a growing audience.
