Introducing the track, Diana reminded listeners that Thomas is already a familiar face to the show’s audience, having first featured the Birmingham-born, Devon-raised singer-songwriter in 2025 after discovering his nostalgic 1980s-inspired single Mixtape.

Known for blending country, pop and rock with soaring, anthemic hooks, Thomas has continued to build a reputation for delivering upbeat, radio-friendly songs. Diana described Summer Song as a record “made for summer” – the kind of track that belongs with the car windows down, at a backyard barbecue or during a day at the beach.

Calling it a “total feel-good anthem,” Diana highlighted the song’s standout lyric, “Summer is forever, baby – it’s a feeling,” saying it perfectly captures the carefree spirit of the season.

Drawing on her own experiences growing up in Chicago, Diana joked that she wished the lyric were literally true.

“As a Midwestern girl from Chicago, I could only wish that were literally true because our summers never seem long enough,” she laughed, encouraging listeners to “enjoy every minute of it.”

Away from the music, Diana also highlighted Thomas’s growing list of projects, including the launch of his Dead Cowboy clothing line, featuring hats and T-shirts, as well as his nomination for UK Male Artist of the Year at the BCMA 2026 Awards.

She urged fans to support Thomas by voting in the awards and following him on Facebook and Instagram for tour dates, music updates and the latest news.

Wrapping up her review, Diana predicted that Summer Song could become a seasonal favourite for listeners.

“Check out Summer Song,” she said. “It just might earn a permanent spot on your summer playlist.”

After presenter Ginge playfully pointed out that Thomas hails from Birmingham—something that always earns extra appreciation on the show—Diana gave the official introduction before the song aired.

“My pleasure, you guys,” she said. “So this week it is Summer Song by Thomas Kavanagh, right here on The Ginger and Nuts Show. Enjoy, guys.”

The track was then welcomed with cheers and applause, bringing another upbeat edition of the show’s popular Single of the Week feature to a close.
