Tessa Collitt Saddles Up for Stardom with Debut Single ‘Cowboy Country’

In an exclusive interview with Ginger and Nuts, the rising star opened up about her journey from country music fan to fully-fledged recording artist. “It’s been a dream of mine for over 10 years to record something of my own,” Tessa revealed. “As my first official single, I’m really happy with it.”

The track, already receiving radio play, draws inspiration from a recent trip to Las Vegas and a scenic road journey to the Grand Canyon. “We did a proper cowboy-style road trip,” she recalled. “I was on the plane home, upright, couldn’t sleep, and the lyrics just came to me. I hadn’t slept in 24 hours, but I just knew it had to be a song.”

The result is Cowboy Country – a twangy, heartfelt number that perfectly captures her love for the genre. But will country define her sound going forward? “I do love country music, but the next song I’m working on might not be as country,” she teased. “Still, I think my sound will have a similar feel.”

As for the music video, it’s a true family affair. “My cousin owns a farm down the road—it was perfect for the video,” Tessa said. “We shot it one afternoon in March and were lucky with the weather. Got my cowboy boots on too—picked them up in Vegas before I’d even written the song. Fate, I guess!”

While Cowboy Country has yet to be performed live, there’s hope that a local gig might be on the cards soon. “Someone messaged me today about performing it,” she said, excitedly. “Maybe I’ll pop down the local and give everyone a garden serenade!”

Looking ahead, Tessa’s ambitions remain heartfelt and grounded. “It’s always been a goal of mine to record an album, ten or twelve songs. It’s not necessarily about making it big, but more about fulfilling that dream for myself.”

With Cowboy Country, Tessa Collitt isn’t just chasing a dream—she’s living it. And if this debut is anything to go by, the future’s looking bright under that wide country sky.
