This week, I thought I would share with you a fabulous, homemade, eco-friendly, all-around cleaning spray.

Now, I can’t take the credit on this one. It’s a recipe by Nancy Birtwhistle, who won Bake Off in 2014, but this is not a recipe for one of her fab bakes. It’s for an amazing and straightforward eco-friendly cleaner, which you can use to clean so many things, from toilets to terracotta pots!

It’s called Pure Magic, and you can also find this recipe in Nancy Birtwhistle’s book, Clean and Green.

So, to make Pure Magic, you will need the following: –

• 7oz or 200 grams of citric acid
• 5 fluid ounces of just boiled water
• ¾ of a fluid ounce or 20ml of eco-friendly washing-up liquid
• 10 drops of tea tree oil or essential oil of your choice; I use Lavender, but this is optional.
• And a 14-fluid ounce or 400ml spray bottle.

And this is what you do…

Place the crystals into a heat-proof measuring jug and pour them over the just-boiled water.

Stir until the liquid is clear and the crystals dissolved, then simply add the eco-friendly washing-up liquid and tea tree or Lavender oil and mix well using a small whisk.

Leave the liquid to cool completely to prevent crystallisation, then pour it into a spray bottle, and that’s it! It’s ready to use!

Pure Magic cleaning solution is fantastic at cleaning toilets as it destroys limescale, dissolves watermarks, kills germs, and brightens and whitens!

Plus, you mix it yourself, so you’re not a consumer using single-use plastic, and most importantly, unlike chlorine bleach, it doesn’t kill the fish!

Simply spray it around your toilet bowl and leave overnight, if you can, to make your loo look lovely and bright!

It’s also great for cleaning your shower cubicles and screens, taps, sinks and work surfaces.

It removes soap scum, kills mould and spores, and algae on paths, bird baths and plant pots! And you can spray it onto hard-to-shift stains on things like tablecloths, tea towels and laundry!

It’s a brilliant all-rounder!

So, it’s worth trying it and keeping a bottle in your cupboard.

…Plus, it’s cheap as chips!

Happy cleaning everyone!
