Man holds NINE weird beard world records

Joel Strasser’s beard adornments include everything from toothpicks, straws, chopsticks and Christmas baubles. Golf tees, forks, clothes pegs and pencils have all found temporary homes there.

A man has notched nine weird beard world records for putting everything from forks to straws in his beard.

Joel Strasser secured the titles after sticking various objects into his facial hair.

The strange items include toothpicks, straws, chopsticks and Christmas baubles.

Golf tees, forks, clothes pegs, and pencils have also found temporary homes inside his beard.

Joel is most recognised for his Christmas beard ornament challenge, a record he has secured four times.

Last year he managed to hang 710 clip-on ornaments from his beard.

Joel Strasser says he self-identifies as a “weirdo”, but his bizarre pastime has now earned him a string of records.

He began putting pencils in his facial hair to ensure his students were attentive in class.

Joel told The Sun: “I would walk around the classroom when people weren’t paying attention and just shove things in my beard.”

A student, who spotted his bizarre hobby, told him he should try and secure world records.

Joel then started a YouTube channel to showcase his beard skills.

He said: “I wanted to make a video where I attempted to see if I could break the world record for most toothpicks in a beard. And I broke it.”

The video proved he could clinch a world record and wanted recognition as a record holder.

He said: “So after I broke the toothpick world record, unofficially, I’m like, I’ve got to make this official, and I’ve got to figure out how to make it, so I have a certificate and stuff.”

His beard antics have led to him developing different techniques to ensure objects remain in place.

Some with clips require different techniques than his regular items, such as toothpicks or spaghetti.

He said others are tedious and can be painful as beard hair gets stuck in springs, and when removing items, he can lose more beard hair.

Joel, an insurance expert, doesn’t know if he will keep up his festive beard record next, and his wife is not a fan of his facial hair and wishes it was shorter.

The couple have appeared on US TV programmes such as The Kelly and Ryan Show and Jay Leno.

His award-winning beard can be seen on his Instagram page @joelnert and his YouTube channel, which has the same name.
