Ginger and Nuts
The Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Glow Party put on a thrilling live stunt show in Birmingham with seven Monster Trucks competing in a thrilling series of battles.
Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party was a two-hour show featuring brightly painted scrap cars that added a sense of mystery and awe as the Monster Trucks crushed and flipped them to the audience’s delight.
From our 8-year-old son, Charlie, who was enthralled to see his favourite Hot Wheels toys come to life, to the petrolheads who couldn’t get enough of the car-crushing stunts, the ridiculously ‘electrifying’ Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party was a must-see event.
Charlie, who has been tirelessly looking after his dad, who suffers from various debilitating conditions, has been a massive fan of Hot Wheels since he was two!
He owns an impressive 1000+ Hot Wheels cars and many tracks and garages.
For those who had booked, the thrilling Crash Zone Pre-Show Party took place two hours before the live show – providing attendees with the chance to not only take in the epic size of the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks and their out-of-this-world designs but also to have a photo and get an autograph from their favourite drivers and performers.
Charlie really enjoyed this aspect of the show – as he was able to get up close and personal with the Monster trucks and meet his heroe
Seven Monster Trucks went head-to-head in an incredible series of epic battles – Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark, New Gunkster, Ace Race, Bone Shaker, Bigfoot and Demo Derby.
As you would have expected, Sunday night’s show was vast and extravagant. The darkened arena was awash with dazzling lasers and blazing neon lights, illuminating the heavy-duty vehicles. It was an enthralling experience!
The show was pretty explosive, and it got loud. Very loud. So younger children and those sensitive to loud noises (or those who would rather avoid ringing in their ears) should invest in a pair of ear defenders or earplugs if they are ever lucky enough to see the show.
The action was nothing short of breathtaking! First, the ‘wheelie competition’ wasn’t just any old showdown – it involved the colossal monster trucks driving across a line of five cars, balancing on two wheels.
The drivers had immense skill, and watching female drivers was also excellent.
A mystery panel of judges on a big screen – plus the spectators gave Bigfoot the victory after a tremendous leap by Rebecca Schnell.
The next thrilling event was a doughnut contest, with the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks accelerating to lightning speeds, their tires squealing, and a cloud of smoke billowing from the intense rotations.
Bone Shaker gave it his all and looked like he was about to take off, finishing with an impressive 29 out of 30 and claiming victory!
The final challenge of the first half was the long jump competition.
Spectators were amazed as the trucks flew through the air over the squashed cars, Mega-Wrex claiming the win.
Everyone was also astonished by the special appearance of the car-eating, fire-breathing transforming robot Megasaurus – a vehicle that transformed before our eyes.
Boasting giant claws and gaping jaws, Megasaurus demonstrated its strength by lifting a car before eating it like a bag of crisps.
After the short interval, Team FMX – an incredible trio of freestyle motocross riders – Marc Pinyol, Nicolas Texier and Julian Mannon – had the audience in awe with their show-stopping display of daring feats – balancing on seats and handlebars while soaring through the air, and even throwing in some no hander back flips to top it off before landing on a giant Hot Wheels inflatable landing pad.
The audience gasped in awe with a chorus of excited oohs and aahs.
Watching them go over the cars was one of Charlie’s favourite highlights of the show.
The monster trucks returned to the arena for the final freestyle round to finish off any remaining car wreckage with their thunderous revving and stunts.
For the first time ever, Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live had two champions – Bigfoot and Mega-Wrex.

The show’s hosts kept things lively during the two-hour extravaganza. Running around the arena, they urged the crowd to cast their votes and gave out Hot Wheels gifts provided from Smyths Toys.
They even tried to shower Charlie with a T-shirt, but it landed short on one of the barricades in the Crash Zone.
Unfortunately, Birmingham was the last stop of the UK tour for 2023.
Stay tuned for future dates because we feel the show will return next year – and we would love to be part of it again.
