Designed to serve four to six individuals, Angela urges cooks to adjust the quantities accordingly. Here’s what you’ll need for this culinary masterpiece:
– 90 grams of butter
– 2 medium-sized onions (chopped) and 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
– 600 grams of sliced mushrooms
– 500ml of milk
– 125ml of single cream
– 2 tablespoons of plain flour
– 500ml of hot chicken or vegetable stock
– A couple of teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
– A teaspoon of ground nutmeg
– Salt and pepper for seasoning
– A squeeze of lemon
Here’s how to turn these ingredients into a soul-warming soup:
1. Mix the butter in a saucepan over gentle to medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onions and crushed garlic, allowing them to simmer for ten to fifteen minutes, infusing the kitchen with their delightful aroma.
3. Introduce the sliced mushrooms to the pan and stir them well.
4. It’s time to add the flour and nutmeg to the mix. Stir continuously for about a minute, ensuring the flour doesn’t burn or clump.
5. Now, pour in the hot stock and Worcestershire sauce, all while keeping the soup in perpetual motion.
6. It’s important to cover the saucepan with a lid and let the ingredients simmer for approximately fifteen to twenty minutes, allowing the flavours to meld together harmoniously.
7. Once the time has passed, take your trusty hand mixer and blitz the soup until it reaches your desired level of smoothness.
8. Pour in the milk and add a generous splash of cream, followed by a spritz of lemon juice. Now, gently reheat the soup, making sure it’s piping hot.
9. When serving, add a twirl of cream on top for an extra touch of elegance.
And just like that, you have a delectable and heartwarming mushroom soup in your hands, perfect for keeping winter’s frosty grip at bay.
So, gather your ingredients and immerse yourself in the joy of creating this delicious masterpiece. Your taste buds will thank you!
