Chesney’s new single marks the return of the ’90s pop sensation. Chesney, best known for his iconic 1991 hit “The One and Only,” has re-entered the music scene after more than a decade, with a song that Diana believes captures both maturity and a new beginning.

“Chesney is back, full force, with his comeback smash hit Get A Hold Of Yourself,” Diana exclaims in her review. “We all fell in love with him back in 1991 with The One and Only, which was a top 10 hit in over 11 countries. Now, he’s here again, reminding us why we adored him in the first place.”

Diana takes listeners on a nostalgic journey, recalling how The One and Only appeared in films like Buddy’s Song, where Hawkes starred alongside rock legend Roger Daltrey, and the 1991 US movie Doc Hollywood, starring Michael J. Fox. The track quickly became a defining anthem of the early ’90s, firmly cementing Chesney’s place in pop history.

But Get A Hold of Yourself isn’t just a return to the spotlight. Diana said, “This song brings a maturity and a sense of freedom. It’s a coming-of-age anthem that feels like a breath of fresh air, not just for Chesney but for all of us who need a new beginning.”

The track, co-written by Chesney, Jake Gosling, and Adam Coleman, took time to win Diana over. “When it first came out, I wasn’t sure,” she admits. “But the more I listened, the more it grew on me. The lyrics hit home, and I realised it’s about more than just music—it’s about embracing who you are, letting go of insecurities, and facing each day with gratitude.”

Diana highlights how the song signals a new chapter for the artist, who has been balancing a busy life with family and various creative projects over the years. “Chesney even manages to keep music in the family—his son, Indy, who is a dead ringer for his dad, is now his lead guitarist. When you see them live, you’ll be doing a double take – ‘Is that Chesney, or is that Chesney?’”

As the music expert wraps up her review, she encourages fans to not only check out the single but also his upcoming tour in 2025. “Chesney’s hitting the road next year, and I can’t wait to see the magic unfold live. Tickets are on sale, so grab them while you can.”

As for the video for Get A Hold of Yourself, Diana offers a playful hint: “It’s like Saltburn meets Love Actually. Imagine if Hugh Grant was naked. It’s a must-watch!”

With this new single, Chesney Hawkes may well be on his way to becoming not just the one and only, but the one to watch in 2025.
