Accidental Idol Kayko Shines with Emotional Single “Time of Your Life”

The song, which Kayko wrote about a breakup from his first love three years ago, has resonated deeply with viewers. Despite not initially intending to audition, Kayko, whose real name is Sam Kelly-Cohen, has impressed the judges and moved on to the Top 14 of the competition.

“What I love about Kayko is not only does he write his own songs, but he transcends those lyrics with so much emotion and conviction,” gushes Diana. “You truly feel each of those songs when he performs.”

Hailing from Delray Beach and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the 24-year-old Berklee College of Music graduate has been dubbed the “accidental idol” on social media. But Diana believes he may be the best “accident” American Idol has seen in a long time.

“Every once in a while, there’s that one particular person on American Idol who may not win the competition, but they go on to have an amazing career afterwards,” she notes, citing the success of Adam Lambert as an example.
