Music expert Diana Cavazos Woloszyk, broadcasting from Chicago on the Ginger and Nuts Show, has named “Sweet Love” by Stephen Sanchez her Single of the Week—and the pick comes wrapped in nostalgia, romance, and timeless sound.
“I just flew in from the Windy City,” Woloszyk laughed as she joined the show, bundled in blankets and braving what she called a “frozen tundra” in Chicagoland. But the cold didn’t dampen her enthusiasm. “I am so, so pumped about this week’s pick,” she said. “This one definitely warms you up.”
That warmth comes courtesy of Stephen Sanchez, a young singer-songwriter known for reviving the lush, romantic pop of the 1950s and ’60s. Woloszyk credited Sanchez with introducing a new generation to retro crooning, noting that she first discovered him on TikTok, where live performance clips showed young audiences enthusiastically embracing music reminiscent of their parents’ and grandparents’ era.
“Thanks to Stephen Sanchez, that classic sound isn’t just back,” she said. “It’s thriving.”
Released on January 9, “Sweet Love” is described by Woloszyk as a “pure feel-good gem wrapped in nostalgia.” The single is accompanied by a deeply personal music video filmed in Sanchez’s grandparents’ home and featuring the couple themselves. The visuals pay tribute to the roots of his musical journey—sparked by his grandfather’s record collection—and to the enduring love story that inspired the song.
“‘Sweet Love’ is inspired by that bond,” Woloszyk explained, “and it celebrates the kind of love that stands the test of time—warm, sincere, and effortlessly charming.”
The track marks Sanchez’s first solo release since his critically praised 2023 song “Angel Face,” and Woloszyk believes it signals continued artistic growth without abandoning the artist’s vintage sensibilities. “It encapsulates nostalgia while still feeling fresh and relevant,” she said.
Adding to the retro appeal, fans can purchase “Sweet Love” as a 45-single vinyl record through Sanchez’s official website—an option Woloszyk praised as “the way it was meant to be heard.” Sanchez is also set to embark on a 2026 UK and European tour, further expanding his international following.
Back in the studio, Ginger and Nuts joked that buying the record might require investing in a turntable first. Still, the verdict was clear: in the dead of winter, “Sweet Love” offers a comforting reminder that great music—and great love—never go out of style.
