Music Expert Pays Tribute to Rock Legends While Spotlighting The Struts

The Struts Are Too Good At Raising Hell
In an emotional and electric segment on this week’s Ginger and Nuts Show, music connoisseur Diana Cavazos Woloszyk paid homage to the past while celebrating the future of rock with her Single of the Week — a thrilling cover of “Rock and Roll Fantasy” by Derby-based glam rockers, The Struts.

Before diving into the track, Diana opened with a heartfelt tribute to the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, whose passing this week has left the rock world reeling. “Ozzy, the legacy that he leaves behind is a gift for all rockers across the globe,” she said solemnly, her voice brimming with reverence.

But the show, as they say, must go on — and go on it did, with Diana offering a spirited and nostalgic review of The Struts’ latest release, a high-octane take on Bad Company’s 1979 hit, Rock and Roll Fantasy.

“Some may know my love for The Struts,” Diana beamed. “They’re a high-energy rock and roll band formed in 2012… Luke Spiller, Adam Slack, Jed Elliott, and Geffen Davis — pure rock charisma!”

The Struts’ version of Rock and Roll Fantasy dropped earlier this year as a limited edition 7-inch vinyl for Record Store Day, and will appear on the upcoming tribute album Can’t Get Enough: The Music of Bad Company, due out this fall. The timing is impeccable — with Bad Company earning their first-ever nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, set for induction this November 8th, streaming on Disney+.

“I think it would be so cool if The Struts could introduce Bad Company,” Diana mused. “I don’t know if that’ll happen, but wouldn’t that be amazing?”

Her connection to the track is deeply personal. As she recounted memories of blasting the original version from WLS Chicago Radio in 1979 while riding in her dad’s station wagon windows down, no seatbelts, and carefree joy, it was clear that Rock and Roll Fantasy is more than just a song. It’s a time capsule.

“Now, 46 years later, I get to enjoy it again — but this time, through a fresh, exciting take by my favourite rock band,” she said.

Fans can catch The Struts on tour across the U.S. starting July 31st, celebrating a decade since the release of their debut album Everybody Wants. Diana will be seeing them — and meeting them — in Chicago on August 9th, a full-circle moment for a lifelong rock devotee.
