Music Critic Falls for Nikk Mager in Her Latest Single of the Week

It’s not every day that an American music aficionado finds herself swept away by the voice of a British pop sensation, but that’s exactly what happened to Chicago-based music expert and radio presenter Diana Cavazos Woloszyk.

Known for her vibrant commentary and global music picks, Diana has crowned Nikk Mager’s latest solo track, “Only You Can Save Me,” as her official Single of the Week on the Ginger and Nuts show – and she isn’t holding back her admiration.

“I just had to go,” she said during her review. “You guys and your talented men over there! I discovered another one who’s apparently been majorly popular, and I had no idea—until now.”

Diana’s introduction to Mager came serendipitously through her social media feed, thanks to her following of another UK talent, Matthew James Pateman—a member of Let Loose and current performer with The Fizz, the beloved British pop group.

Pateman’s recent posts featuring the group led her straight to Mager’s solo performances.
“When I saw Nikk’s version of ‘Talking in Your Sleep’ by The Romantics, I was absolutely blown away,” she said, praising the British singer’s vocal ability and charisma.

For those unfamiliar, Nikk Mager first gained recognition on Popstars: The Rivals and later joined the boy band Phixx (not to be confused with The Fixx). The cleverly named group achieved international success with multiple UK Top 20 singles and a record-breaking tour in South Africa. Mager later went solo in 2006, even stepping into the spotlight as lead vocalist with the Chippendales and starring in Here Come the Boys on tour in the UK.

Now, in 2025, he’s joined The Fizz alongside Cheryl Baker, Jay Aston, and Pateman—and just last week, he dropped “Only You Can Save Me,” a dramatic, emotionally-charged single that’s already resonating with fans on both sides of the Atlantic.

“The intro is intense—it draws you right in,” Diana raved. “It’s got a great hook, a great chorus. You’ll be singing along after the first listen, I guarantee it.”

Calling Mager’s vocal range “powerful” and “off the charts,” Diana draws comparisons to Pateman himself, saying, “I can see why they’re both with such a powerhouse group. They’re equally strong, vocally.”

Diana urged her listeners to not only check out the single but to dive into Mager’s full solo catalogue across digital platforms—and to keep up with both Mager and The Fizz on social media.
